Welcome
The Kyneton District Health Service is a public hospital with 26 overnight acute beds and 6 day stay beds 3 chair dialysis service and a 30 bed Nursing Home The Hospital also provides an Outreach Service encompassing District Nursing Palliative Care Hospital in the Home and Post Acute Care

Kyneton township is situated in rural Victoria on the Calder Highway about 80 kilometres north of Melbourne The provincial cities of Bendigo and Ballarat are within easy driving distance

Located within the Macedon Ranges Shire the Kyneton District Health Service provides services to an estimated population of 30000 people who live in the districts of Kyneton Woodend Newham Lancefield Romsey Metcalfe and Gisborne

The Kyneton District Health Service is managed by a Board of Management appointed by the Minister for Health We receive funding from the Department of Human Services for our Acute and Outreach Services and from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and the Department of Human Services for our Nursing Home

The Kyneton District Health Service has a long and proud history in service to the people of Kyneton and surrounding districts The new hospital has been operational from May 2003 and officially opened by the Acting State Premier and Health Minister on the 25th June 2003

The Kyneton Distict Health Service is a public hospital and is an incorporated body listed under Schedule 1 of the Health Services Act 1988

The responsible Minister is the Honorable Bronwyn Pike MPThe management of Kyneton District Health Service is governed by the Board of Management which directs all the affairs of the hospital subject to the Health Services Act 1998 other relevant Acts and Regulations and the Hospital Bylaws The Board meets on a regular basis and is supported in its decision making by the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Staff and a number of subcommittees which present reports and recommendations for its consideration

The objectives of the Board are

To organise for and provide health care services in the Kyneton district and in particular hospital based services including regional services and services provided jointly with other agencies in accordance with the Health Services Act 1988 and other relevant Acts and Regulations

To utilise appropriate physical and personnel resources knowledge and technologies available to promote health and to prevent treat and alleviate disease injury and suffering so far as possible in the prevailing conditons

To set and achieve standards consistent with prevailing principles of quality patient care and community health needs

To foster continuing improvement in standards through education research and training
