In 2009 Winthrop provided inpatient care for 33581 men women children and 3242 newborns and logged nearly 66000 emergency visits More than 4048 electrophysiology procedures and 6385 cardiac catheterizations were performed Nearly 18000 surgical procedures were completed including 500 openheart operations In addition Winthrops certified Home Health Agency and its Long Term Homecare Program provided nearly 110000 visits to community residents

The Hospital employs 6000 dedicated and caring individuals including nearly 1500 nurses and 1525 fulltime and voluntary attending medical staff Winthrop offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient programs and services for the newborn through the elderly primarily from Nassau Suffolk and Queens Counties on Long Island in a dynamic progressive environment
