A man saw an old woman stooped over on a beach covered with starfish He asked her what she was doing to which she replied I am throwing the starfish back into the sea if I dont they will dry up and die

Laughing the man said But Old Woman there are so many starfish on the beach you cant possibly take care of all of them

She picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea Then looking at the man she said I just took care of that one

Tomah Memorial Hospital is about taking care of you and focusing the full resources of our organization to help each individual patient The parable above which is the inspiration for our starfish logo continues with the old woman returning to the beach the next morning only to discover the man and his children busily throwing starfish back into the sea He looked up and smiled we are here to take care of a few more starfish
