The Chester County Hospital and Health System is an organization dedicated to the health and wellbeing of the people in Chester County and surrounding areas The system with a goal of making lives better every day includes a 220bed complex in West Chester and satellite locations in Exton Lionville West Goshen New Garden Jennersville and Kennett Square Chartered in 1892 as a 10bed dispensary the Hospital is the only nonprofit independent community hospital in Chester County In an ongoing effort to provide the most progressive services available the Hospital has created unique partnerships with clinical leaders including the Cleveland Clinic for heart surgery the University of Pennsylvania for cancer radiation oncology and radiology and The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia CHOP for pediatrics and neonatal care

In 2008 and 2010 The Chester County Hospital received Gold Seals of Approval for healthcare quality from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations the national body that accredits and certifies more than 18000 healthcare organizations in six different clinical areas stroke acute myocardial infarction heart attack heart failure hip replacement knee replacement and wound care The Chester County Hospital is also an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI These quality approval accolades are evidence of the Hospitals ongoing drive to be the best

Established in 1892 ours was Chester Countys first hospital It was situated initially on the north side of Marshall Street across from Marshall Square Park

Thanks to the generosity of Pierre S du Pont of Wilmington Delaware construction for the presentday Chester County Hospital opened in 1925 at its current location Mr du Pont was so impressed with the care which his friend and employee Lewes Mason received that he donated one million dollars to construct an entirely new hospital in Mr Masons memory
