1945

Financed by a combination of state and federal funds individual and industrial contributions foundation gifts and other assets the new facility was named Stanly County Hospital

A 35member board of trustees representing all sections of the county as well as various civic and veterans organizations was selected to oversee the daytoday operations

It would be named Stanly Memorial Hospital in honor of those members of the armed services who had given their lives for their country
