1869 St Joseph Hospital opens in the former Rockhill Hotel

1876 A doctors clinic opens and the first resident physician begins
practice at the hospital

1894 Expansion includes private and semiprivate rooms and elevators

1900 St Joseph Hospital annexed into Fort Wayne

1906 Hospital approved and registered by the American Medical Association

1913 New addition of a fivestory steel structure constructed with 150 feet
of frontage on Broadway

1914 First baby was born in the newly opened obstetrical unit on March 7
1914

1929 The original Rockhill Hotel was demolished after 61 years as the
hospital and a new sevenstory structure with a bed capacity of 350 is
constructed extending to Van Buren Street

1966 A ninestory wing along Broadway is constructed Also a new four
story building is constructed on Van Buren Street

1974 St Joseph Regional Burn Center opens

1984 St Joseph Hospital purchases land near Dupont Road and Interstate 69
for the purpose of expanding healthcare services

1990 Phase one of Dupont Medical Center opens at Dupont and Interstate 69

1994 Phase two of Dupont Medical Center complete

1996 The Frank Freimann Regional Outpatient Burn Unit opens

1998 St Joseph Hospital becomes owned by Quorum

2000 Groundbreaking for Dupont Hospital located at Dupont and Interstate
69

2001 Quorum purchased by Triad Hospital Inc Dupont Hospital opens

2003 55 million Emergency Department renovation and expansion

2005 18 million renovation and expansion to the hospitals obstetrics
unit called The Birthplace completed

2006 Received Chest Pain Center accreditation by Society of Chest Pain
Centers

2007 St Joe announces plans to relocate its regional burn and wound care
centers to 18000 square feet of renovated space on the second floor of the
facility Work on a 6 million relocation and expansion of both specialties
is expected to be completed in May 2008 Patient rooms in the Burn Center
will increase from nine to 12 Three of these rooms are being devoted to
pediatric patients

2007 St Joe announces plans of constructing a 7 million 29000square
foot medical office building on the plaza located between the hospital and
current medical office building Renovation of the existing medical office
building will transform the new and old MOBs into one 65000squarefoot
stateoftheart facility When completed the Fort Wayne Medical Education
Program will relocate from its current home to the St Joe campus
