History

Southern Regional first opened its doors to patients April 19 1971 as a small community hospital in Riverdale Ga Four short years later the increased demand for services brought Southern Regional to begin a construction project that would double the hospitals size
In 1987 Southern Regional completed a second major expansion and became the first hospital in Georgia to be smoke free

In 2001 the hospital opened the Womens Life Center focused on providing highquality health care to the women of our community Today called The Womens Center this beautiful center births approximatley 2500 babies a year

Spivey Station located in Jonesboro Ga is the newest Southern Regional addition and specialized services include OBGYN breast care primary care and internal medicine neurology hematology and oncology
