History

Scottsdale Healthcare opened its first hospital in 1962 as the 120bed City Hospital of Scottsdale when Scottsdale was home to only 10000 residents Today Scottsdale is home to over 225000 residents and is a popular vacation destination for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year

The Virginia G Piper Cancer Center is located on the Shea campus Dedicated in 2001 it combines the strengths of a leading notforprofit medical center and its communitybased physicians with academic and scientific research in one location Advanced cancer treatment research prevention education and support are provided in one location
