In 1971 At the hospitals dedication ceremony New Jerseys Commissioner of Health shared with the audience quotYou now have a beautiful building now you have to build a hospitalquot And so they did knowing that a medical facility no matter how modern is only as good as the men and women who staff it
Today Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton shares its proud history having grown into a comprehensive community hospital offering a wide range of services
Through the Years
2007 Opened the Lakefront Tower adding 64 private patient rooms for maternity medicalsurgical and orthopedic units
2002 Opened the Cancer Institute of New Jersey Hamilton the countys only cancer center built beyond the hospital walls
2001 Opened the north tower providing a new emergency department and intensivecritical care areas Established the Grounds for Healing an innovative partnership with the internationallyrecognized Grounds for Sculpture and The Sculpture Foundation to promote the healing of mind body and spirit
1996 Opened the Women and Infants Pavilion home to the maternal child health program RWJ Hamilton became an affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey establishing The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Hamilton
1995 Opened the Outpatient Services Building The ambulatory center provides outpatient testing and treatment including a sameday surgery center
1994 Hamilton Hospital became part of the Robert Wood Johnson Network and System The hospital changed its name to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton
1985 Lakeview Child Center opened its first of seven facilities on the hospital campus to provide childcare services for hospital employees
1971 Hamilton Hospital opened after moving Trenton General Hospital to a new 43acre suburban campus in Hamilton Township
