Peninsula Hospital Center affiliate of the North ShoreLong Island Jewish Health System currently operates a 173bed acute care community teaching hospital campus encompassing a 200bed longterm care and rehabilitation center Peninsula Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation The Hospital Center provides a full continuum of care including acute rehabilitative outpatient diagnostic primary care and wellness to the communities of the Rockaways the Five Towns of Nassau County and parts of Queens and Brooklyn This year the Hospital Center is celebrating its 100th Anniversary of providing Quality Health Care Close to Home

The Hospital Center provides a wide range of services which include a Traumatic Brain Injury Unit Angels on the Bay Pediatric Unit Family Health Center Diabetes Adult and Pediatric Treatment Centers Advanced Imaging Services including MRIMRA 16slice CT Mammography Unit Nuclear Medicine Radiation Oncology service with linear accelerator Podiatry Dental Orthopedics and Eye Care Center on site Just recently Peninsula Hospital Center collaborated with the North ShoreLIJ Health System and Hospice Care Network to open a 7bed private room Inpatient Hospice Care Center Butterflies by the Sea the Eisenstadt Hospice Center at Peninsula This new program will serve hospice patients by providing excellent palliative care so that they and their families can have the time to focus on each other when time matters the most

Peninsula Hospital Center serves as the hospital affiliate for the Joseph P Addabbo Family Health Center one of only two Federally Qualified Health Centers in Queens County and is the only hospital in the Rockaways and South Queens with the New York State Department of Health Stroke Center designation Peninsula Hospital Center offers all components of quality healthcare found in todays forwardthinking community hospital

Within the past five years Peninsula Hospital Center completed a modernization of its Department of Emergency Medicine that included a complete renovation of patient treatment areas and most recently the modernization expansion and upgrade of its mammography suite The Hospital Centers Century Project plans include the upgrade and renovation of the inpatient dialysis unit acquisition of a new linear accelerator and the expansion of radiation oncology services expanded surgical services acquisition of new heath information technology and the expansion of the Adult and Pediatric Diabetes Programs

Perhaps most exciting is the recent approval for construction of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory in collaboration with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center which will be of vast significance in the prevention discovery and management of heart disease in our region To commemorate the 100th year of service to the community the Hospital Center recently acquired the latest in AngioScreen technology and is offering screenings free of charge to the community to assist in the early warning signs for stroke hypertension and heart disease
