Central Texas Medical Center is a 113bed hospital providing a wide range of healthcare services in San Marcos Texas and neighboring communities The hospital was established in 1960 and the present facility opened in 1983

Our staff of over 600 employees works with over 100 consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families Additionally over 100 community members and interns from Texas State University San Marcos volunteer their services to the hospital CTMC collaborates with the local schools and university systems to promote higher education and development in the healthcare field Texas State students have gained insight and experience through internships that help prepare them for health careers Various degreed programs such as health administration physical therapy business and marketing allow for handson training and experience in the healthcare arena

A Community Health Resource

Special services offered at Central Texas Medical Center include a 24hour emergency center and a Minor Emergency Center available until 1100 pm The emergency department is a fully equipped 20bed department providing specialty care for cardiology pediatric orthopedic and obstetric patients CTMC has sexual assault nurse examiners SANEs available 24hours a day to assist victims of sexual assault Other services offered at CTMC include a 16slice CAT scanner PETCT scanner maternity club for expectant mothers outpatient surgery rehabilitation services that include physical speech and occupational therapy an MRI unit and a cardiac catheterization lab More than 1115 babies were born at CTMC in 2005 and over 30000 patients were cared for in our emergency department Dedicated to creating a healthy community Central Texas Medical Center offers a variety of classes and workshops Some of the most popular ones are on pregnancy and health arthritis selfhelp and wellness and activity classes These are offered free or for a nominal charge The Center for Wellness amp Sports Performance promotes selfcare and preventive medicine The specially trained staff works closely with physicians to design personalized programs that help individuals attain their fitness goals As an added benefit CTMC employees have full fitness center privileges at a discounted rate which can be paid monthly via payroll deduction
