History

History
The decadeslong dream of a medical facility to serve the needs of Ohio County was finally realized in 1936 Construction of a 12patient clinic offering medical surgical and dietary facilities was started in Hartford by Dr Marion O Crowder on the corner of Center Street and Apple Alley

Under the stalwart support of Dr Oscar Allen a bond issue to finance a new hospital was approved by voters in 1953 and a construction contract was let in January 1955 In September 1956 a 30bed facility was opened on land donated by Hartford businessman and civic leader Leslie B Carden

Since that time the hospital has undergone several major construction and renovation projects Today Ohio County Hospital is a progressive 25bed acute care facility offering a broad range of medical surgical and ancillary services
