Since 1907 Greater Niagara General Site in Niagara Falls has provided community hospital and specialty care to Niagara Falls and surrounding residents now numbering more than 85000 In 1958 a new hospital opened on Portage Road which today has more than 180 Acute Care Mental Health and Complex Continuing Care beds 24hour Emergency Department inpatient and day surgery regional acute stroke beds maternalchild services intensive care and more Greater Niagara General Site features a dedicated Geriatric Assessment Unit the Regional Stroke Program and a Womens Health Centre which includes the Ontario Breast Screening Program The Niagara Falls hospital is home to new MRI and CT units the new Jeff Morgan Emergency Department and new and renovated Ambulatory CareDay Surgery Centre serving about 225 outpatients each weekday Plans are underway to open a 15station Dialysis Unit to serve outpatients
