Newman Regional Health is committed to providing high quality healthcare to the people of Lyon County and the surrounding communities For over 85 years Newman Regional Health has expanded to meet the needs of a growing community and has established a tradition of excellent health care in east central Kansas

Centrally located within the city of Emporia Newman Regional Health is a 190 bed governmental entity operated on a notforprofit basis and is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program Although we are a county hospital we receive no financial support from Lyon County The hospital is supported by donations and payment for services

Over 500 employees 300 volunteers and over 130 physicians of which 31 are on our active medical staff and many other professionals make up the patient care team at Newman Regional Health The hospital provides a wide range of medical and surgical services as well as womens services critical care level II nursery 24 hour emergency services outpatient services chemical dependency treatment programs home health care and hospice services Download a Passport Home brochure that covers many our services Two of the newest services include the Sleep Center and Wound Care Clinic Newman Regional Health is a teaching hospital and is home to the ESU Newman Division of Nursing

Since 1922 Newman Regional Health has been a vital part of healthcare for a seven county area surrounding Emporia Kansas The Emporia Gazette used the Winston Churchill quote quotWe live not by what we have but by what we givequot on March 5 1922 to describe George Newmans generous contribution The original 81 bed hospital was built largely as the result of a 50000 bequest left by Mr George Newman a local businessman Additional funds were raised with a twoyear tax levy and the hospital opened on March 6th 1922 The hospital is named in honor of both Mr Newman and the county Since the hospital has opened there has been a nursing school currently the Emporia State University Newman Division of Nursing located on the east side of the hospital campus
