Based on revenue Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center NMRMC is the largest critical access hospital in the state of Kansas Located in the southeast portion of the state NMRMC provides care to 45000 residents in a 60mile radius

The medical center is a clinical training site for six allied health schools including a physicians family medicine program Neosho Memorial is one of the largest employers in the region


History

In 1903 Dr LD Johnson established a private hospital in Chanute Kansas When he decided to close his facility a citizenslead campaign funded the building of Neosho Memorial Hospital which began in 1947 On January 14 1951 Neosho Memorial Hospital opened as a 51bed general hospital dedicated as a memorial to the men and women of Neosho County who lost their lives during World War II

Today Neosho Memorial continues its history of service to area families The Medical Center is undergoing a 20 million dollar renovation project creating all new patient care areas including a new Emergency Department Inpatient Unit Intensive Care Unit Outpatient Observation Unit and Nutrition Services Department In addition the Laboratory and Imaging Services Departments will be renovated and expanded

This notforprofit countyowned critical access hospital is governed by a county commission appointed Board of Trustees It is with pride that Neosho Memorial does not require tax dollars for general operations of the Medical Center And it is with dedication that the staff pledges to uphold their commitment to Bring Service and Excellence Together
