History

Founded in 1910 as Dalys Astoria Sanatorium Mount Sinai has been serving western Queens for almost 100 years In fact the original hospital still exists today a modest stucco structure now called the Annex behind the main hospital building Today the Annex houses many staff functions like the Departments of Nursing and Medical Records For most of its history the Hospital was owned by a large dedicated group of physicians This group of physicians built the existing inpatient hospital building in two phases first three floors and then an additional three floors In 1972 a group of investors purchased the hospital and remained it owners until 1999 Faced with increasing downward pressure on health and hospital finances and an environment where it is hard to survive as a stand alone hospital it was sold to the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan it is the only community hospital to bear the Mount Sinai name In the ensuing years Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens has worked diligently to renovate the facility expand programs and upgrade quality of care

Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens offers the comfort of community and the confidence of Mount Sinai
