History

Mount Sinai Medical Center was established in 1949 by a group of philanthropists and concerned citizens with two goals in mind to make healthcare services readily available to all people regardless of race color or creed or their ability to pay and to create a hospital where physicians would be allowed to practice medicine without fear of discrimination Fiftyseven years later we are proud to remain a notforprofit hospital that provides vital health care services to all citizens Through the years we have steadily gained the expertise resources and facilities necessary to serve an everexpanding population of people in need Our growth has been fueled by our mission to provide progressive medical education conduct cuttingedge research and give compassionate care to our communities
