MGH affiliated with Sutter Health a network of 27 hospitals in Northern California and Hawaii in January 1996 The Marin General Hospitals Board of Directors made up primarily of volunteer community leaders makes policy decisions about patient care finances strategic planning and community benefits The five members of the publicly elected Marin Healthcare District under terms of a 30year lease signed in 1985 own the hospitals buildings and grounds MGH has not received taxpayer support since 1976

Public education seminars are free or low lost and generally held at MGH Examples of programs include stress management diet and disease nutrition heart health creativity and healing diabetes learning disabilities habit control high cholesterol plastic surgery guided imagery migraines preventing falls mental health hepatitis C fibromyalgia tamoxifen treatment for breast cancer colon cancer and breast health

Marin General Volunteers
Marin General Volunteers are a diverse group of 400 women men and teens who perform a variety of jobs at the hospital As a volunteer you can make an important difference to both patients and their families Should you choose to work directly with patients assignments may include work in the following areas Emergency Department medical records book cart mail outpatient surgery the Marin Cancer Institute nursing units and patient liaison Volunteers may select other assignments with indirect or no patient contact Telephone 4159257258 for more information

Marin General Hospital opened in May 1952 in Greenbrae CA and is the largest acute care hospital in Marin County It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations MGH provides primary and secondary levels of care in addition to the Marin Cancer Institute and the Marin Heart Institute Services include a Level III Trauma Center and a full complement of acute care and ancillary services such as neonatal intensive care pediatrics a family birth center adult psychiatric units and cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratories
