About Us
Illini Community Hospital serves seven counties in West Central Illinois The Hospital is located in the Pike County seat of Pittsfield a twohour drive from St Louis only five hours from Chicago and Kansas City and one hour from Springfield the State capitol

In the late 1930s a group of civicminded Pike County area citizens conceived the idea to build a community hospital in Pittsfield Ill Thanks to their leadership and the support of area residents Illini Community Hospital was dedicated on January 25 1942 The first patient was admitted the following day

Today Illini continues to serve the health care needs of west central Illinois residents as a Critical Access Hospital licensed by the State of Illinois The hospital is accredited by the Health Facilities Accreditation Program and is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Illinois Hospital Association As a notforprofit hospital funds remaining after expenses are reinvested in equipment personnel and facilities to continually improve the quality of care for the patients

This year Illini will embark on an exciting new era in its history thanks to the generosity of a new generation of caring area residents Groundbreaking for Phase I of a multimillion dollar multiyear expansion and renovation project was held on May 10 2004 The first phase one of four in the Master Facility Plan was completed in the summer of 2005

History

Hospital History
Pike County residents raised 60000 to help build Illini Community Hospital
in 1942

A new chapel meditation room coffee shop and gift shop were added in 1966

Pike County residents gave thousands of dollars and passed a fivecent tax
to keep Illini Community Hospital open in 1972

A CriticalCoronary Unit and heliport for emergency air transportation
service were added to Illini Community Hospital in 1973

Renovations of secondfloor patient rooms and laboratory and surgery
additions were completed in 1984

Operation of a 24hour ER and coordination of the ambulance service at
Illini started in 1987

Illini was only one of three hospitals in or around Illinois performing
cholecystectomy by laprascope in 1990

Illini Community Hospital Rehabilitation Center opened in 1994

New telemetry monitoring equipment for Critical Care was added in 1998

Blessing Corporate Services began overseeing operation of Illini Community
Hospital in May 2000

Blessing Corporate Services purchased BlessingCare Corporation dba Illini
Community Hospital in September 2002

Illini became a Critical Access Hospital in September 2001

New Generation of Caring Campaign capital campaign began in July 2003
raising nearly 12 million dollars

Multiyear multimillion dollar Master Facility Plan was announced in
August 2003

Groundbreaking for Phase 1 of the Master Facility Plan construction project
was held on May 10 2004

Illini Rural Health Clinic opened August 22 2005

Illini new Emergency Department Registration and main entrance opened
September 2005

Oncology Treatment service began February 8 2006
Neonatal intensive care unit reunion planned in Mobile
