The Hospice of Saint John is a program that enables terminally ill patients to make the most of every moment Our staff is expert in palliative care pain management acute care and respite care We provide expert guidance through endoflife concerns in patients homes in nursing homes in assisted living facilities and in our inpatient care facility Father Pauls philosophy of care and respect for patients and their loved ones lives on in his memory

In 1977 the Hospice of Saint John began caring for patients Since then the Hospice of Saint John has provided end of life care to over 30000 patients and their families

Our hospice patients receive the highest quality nursing services pain management comfort care spiritual care social services complimentary therapies and bereavement support Our patients are at the center of the plan of care which is individually designed by a team of expert caregivers committed to the mission of the Hospice of Saint John to provide alternative supportive and loving care for the terminally ill and their families with an emphasis on life and living

The Hospice of Saint John program is modeled in the tradition of care originated in 1048 by the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Their charge was to care for the sick and dying The Hospice of Saint John continues in this tradition today

The concept of end of life care revitalized in the seventies by Elizabeth KublerRoss was recognized by Father Paul von Lobkowitz OSJ and a group of prominent members of Denvers community as an opportunity to restore the mission originated in 1048 Part of this mission has been to treat patients and families as a single unit and develop plans for care that facilitate life and living Today patients families and the community are afforded the benefits of a long standing tradition of care that is also recognized for original thinking
