HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties founded as Boulder County Hospice in 1976 is a Coloradolicensed Medicare and Medicaidcertified nonprofit healthcare organization serving Boulder Broomfield and Adams Counties and beyond High quality healthcare is important at every stage of life and we consider it a privilege to walk alongside those who are facing terminal illness coping with grief or seeking to learn more about these profound experiences HospiceCare physicians and interdisciplinary teams of nurses certified nursing assistants chaplains social workers and counselors help patients and families prepare for understand and make informed decisions at the end of life and throughout the grieving process

History

1976 Boulder County Hospice becomes the first hospice in Colorado

1977 Fifteen patients in the first year

1981 Become national training site for new hospice organizations

1982 First PIZAZZ dinnerdance fundraiser

1983 Irene Rothgerber donates home on Marine Street which becomes new headquarters

1991 Satellite office opens at the James House in Longmont

1995 Name changes to Hospice of Boulder County

1999 HospiceCare Center opens in leased space on Balfour campus in Louisville

2001 Services are consolidated in new Lafayette office

2003 Name changes to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties

2005 Thrift Shop and Grief amp Education Center open in Boulder

2007 Longmont office opens and Palliative Home Health is introduced

2008 Served 1372 terminally ill patients and families
Provided direct grief support to 1424 people
358 volunteers donated 24584 hours of service
2545 people attended 147 community presentations
NC Womens Hospital is identified as BabyFriendly
