Our Vision
With the many changes and advancements at Greenview one constant remains a top priority our commitment to patient safety Greenview was one of the early HCA hospitals nationwide to implement eMAR or electronic medication administration record eMAR is a wireless recordkeeping system that documents medications prescribed and administered during the patients stay in the hospital eMAR greatly reduces the chance for medication errors and is an effective way to ensure that the right patient is receiving the right medication in the right dosage at the right time

In 2010 Greenview Regional Hospital a leading orthopaedic facility in Kentucky obtained the HANA Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Table the only surgical table designed exclusively for the anterior approach to Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Greenview was one of the first hospitals in southern Kentucky to use the HANA table The Anterior Approach surgery procedure is a technique that minimizes the pain and time from surgery to recovery The Anterior Approach allows the surgeon to reach the hip joint from the front of the hip as opposed to the lateral side or the posterior back approach

Greenview Regional Hospital is now allowing patients to get a better estimate of how long it will take to receive care in nonemergency situations

The new program instituted in 2010 allows patients to receive an estimated wait time through the internet text message or special signage

The technology has already been tested at several HCA hospitals in Florida and Tennessee The wait times are tracked using a system in the ER that transfers data to an RSS feed that automatically updates and displays the wait times online at Greenview Regional Hospitals website

People with a text message feature on their cell phones can text ER to 23000 and receive a text back with the wait time for the hospital closest to them

Greenview uses a rolling four hour average and is updated every 30 minutes

HCA defines the wait time as the time between entering the ER and beginning the medical screening examination from a qualified medical professional either a physician a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner HCA adds that patients are seen in priority order based on the type and severity of their medical problem

There is a relatively new trend among many hospitals including Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green to turn over the care of inhospital patients to specialty doctors called hospitalists freeing primary care physicians to see more patients in their offices

quotLots of studies show that when you have hospitalists on site continuity of care is better patient outcome is better and the primary care physicians can focus on their own clinics which allows better access to those doctorsquot said Mark Marsh CEO of Greenview Regional Hospital

quotWhat we do is take care of patients in the hospitals onlyquot said Dr Darren Fentress who has been a hospitalist at Greenview since 2008 quotIts been found that it brings down the cost of hospitalization in part because this is what we do and we can get the patients out of the hospital as soon as possiblequot Currently Greenviews hospitalists see patients for more than fifty physicians from throughout southern Kentucky

Greenview hired its first two hospitalists in 2007 and has been supporting the program ever since Current hospitalists are Drs Fentress and Marty Casebier The newest addition to the team Bowling Green native Dr Sarah Chou began work in 2010
