Over the years weve invested in the facilities technology and people to be able to provide state of the art health care right here in the heart of the state As a result in most cases were able to provide the same treatment and care that a patient would receive in large urban area hospitals

History

The opening of Great Plains Regional Medical Center in 1975 marked the completion of one of the most successful cooperative efforts in North Plattes history

In 1973 a volunteer building campaign themed quotOne Hospital More Doctorsquot exceeded its 12 million fundraising goal enabling a ground breaking for the new hospital On August 9 1975 GPRMC was dedicated replacing the two smaller aging hospitals Memorial and St Marys

Since then GPRMC has continued to invest in the facilities equipment and medical expertise to provide stateoftheart health care in the heart of the state This both drives and supports our mission Providing the kind of health care we would want for ourselves and our families in partnership with those we serve

Below is a timeline of major accomplishments1976 A medical arts building was built just west of the hospital

1990 A 75 million expansion project changed the main entrances and added space for Physical Therapy Renal Dialysis and a new Emergency Department

1996 A major renovation of Womens Services guided by our patients telling us what they wanted helped create a more family centered environment

2003 A joint venture saw the opening of the North Platte Surgery Center

2003 Saw completion of a 23 million expansion adding 63000 square feet to the hospital for Same Day Surgery Recovery Central Sterile and the Emergency Department

2004 Opening of the North Platte Heart Institute in conjunction with the Nebraska Heart Institute marked the opening of the cardiac catheterization lab

March 2009 saw completion of the Great Plains Imaging Center The center features a Womens Imaging Suite that houses some of the most modern and patientfriendly imaging technology available yet it feels more like a private spa

And even though the care we offer is guided by our smalltown Nebraska roots were dedicated to providing the kind of advanced treatments and technologies youd typically expect to see only in bigcity hospitals
