Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537bed including 100 nursing home beds notforprofit hospital serving the community on the south shore of Long Island in West Islip New York A premier health care facility Good Samaritans highquality medical services extend across the continuum of care to all disciplines both for inpatients and outpatients

A stellar reputation exists for Good Samaritans firstrate oncology cardiology respiratory and surgical care which are complemented by an array of stateoftheart diagnostic imaging capabilities that includes a Positron Emmisson TomographyComputed Tomography PETCT scanner and a 64Slice CT scanner The number of visits to the Emergency Department will surpass 90000 this year exceeding all other facilities in Suffolk County The Ambulatory Surgery Department where patients have same day procedures continues to treat an average of almost 300 patients each week In 2007 29011 patients were admitted for inpatient services

Additionally services for women are available in obstetrics gynecology and maternalchild care as well as diagnostic imaging for cancer screening and treatment Pediatric patients are treated in the Pediatric Emergency Department and if necessary admitted to the Pediatric Unit or the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Pediatric sub specialists are available around the clock to support these medical services

Rehabilitation services which now includes physical occupational and speech therapies moved into expanded area in 2008 The Department added a Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy Program Adult and Pediatric Speech Therapy Services and also a specific program for cancer patients suffering from fatigue

The need for expert cardiology care has steadily increased in the community The cardiology team has responded by being one of the few community hospitals in New York to perform primary angioplasty on an emergency basis The angioplasty program is a collaborative effort among the Medical Centers Cardiology Emergency and Special Care departments

The talented medical staff of 830 physicians 1200 nurses and more than 2000 support staff is committed to offering the best in diagnostic treatment and prevention of conditions and illnesses Care is administered for the individuals physical needs while always addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of every patient
