Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah GRHS is a state funded multiservice facility that provides quality care to mentally ill adults emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and developmentally disabled persons from its 24 county catchment area in Southeast Georgia GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat a person nearer to their home and family

The facility is operated by the Division of Mental Health Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases of the Georgia Department of Human Resources

The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care The hospitals admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day

Interdisciplinary teams on each psychiatric unit work with clients upon admission to formulate an Individual Treatment Plan which sets forth modes of treatment and criteria to be met for subsequent discharge
