History

1958 November 23 250 interested people attend the Associations founding meeting at Clinton Hall in Vancouver

1963 quotThe Associations first major successquot the official opening of three seniors apartment buildings and personal care home at Harrison Drive in Vancouver

1967 Mrs Leonda Koski generously gifts to the Association her home on 5 acres of land on Johnson Street in Coquitlam

1975 Official opening of Finnish Manor Intermediate Care facility and seniors apartments at 3460 Kalyk Avenue in Burnaby

1980 The Association reserves an area at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby for the use of Finnish Canadians

1989 Martin Hills 50000 gift inspires the Association to construct passenger elevators to all three Harrison Drive apartment buildings

1990 The Association is honoured to host a luncheon at Finnish Manor for Finlands President Mauno Koivisto and Mrs Koivisto as part of their official cross Canada tour

1993 The Finnish Organization of Canada Websters Corner and Vancouver locals generously donate 135000 to the Association for the new Finnish Homes activity room funding

1995 Finlands Independence Day 400 enthusiastic people attend at the official opening of the new Finnish Home Multi Level Care facility at 2288 Harrison Drive in Vancouver

1999 The Association members contribute generously to a successful fund raising campaign for a new 100000 wheelchair minibus for Finnish Home and Finnish Manor residents
