Candler County Hospital is an acute general hospital serving rural Candler County and parts of five additional counties The hospital provides inpatient outpatient and emergency care to patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups Licensed for 25 patient beds the hospital is fully staffed and competent in patient care clinical laboratory radiology general surgery respiratory therapy emergency services coronary and intensive care pharmacy renal dialysis physical therapy and access to multiple outpatient procedures

History

Candler County Hospital is a 25 bed Joint Commission Accredited acute care hospital We are governed by a 7 member Hospital Authority Board who in turn appoint a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the daily operations of the hospital

The hospital opened in 1961 and expanded in 1971 to our current size size In 1973 the hospital opened the first renal dialysis unit to be located in a rural area of Georgia We have continually strived to maintain an atmosphere of progress and development In 2004 the hospital started participating the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Critical Access Program which help provide critical health care needs to rural areas

New Additions
In 1998 a completely new 13 Million Emergency Department and OutPatient Services area housing two trauma rooms and four emergency care rooms opened In March of 2000 in response to a steadily growing need to expand our ability to care for patients we moved into a new Administrative Services addition This addition enabled us to make more rooms available to care for patients

We have upgraded much of our radiology and surgical equipment over the past two years and through our Foundation have completely renovated and upgraded many of our patient rooms

Our active medical staff consists of twelve physicians specializing in Family Practice Internal Medicine Nephrology Podiatry General and Vascular Surgery Additionally we also have a extensive staff of Consulting and Courtesy staff members which represent a growing number of specialist providing services to our area
