History

A Brief History
Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital was built on this site in 1902 as the country division of Rush Hospital Our primary work at that time was to care for patients with tuberculosis We continued to treat patients with tuberculosis and other respiratory illnesses until 1960 when our emphasis shifted to geriatric medicine In 1970 we merged with Bryn Mawr Hospital and became a center of rehabilitative medicine pioneering programs for people who experience the effects of brain injury orthopedic problems and accidents neurological disorders and spinal cord injury

Today Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive rehabilitation services organization in the MidAtlantic region We provide a broad range of programs at every level of care including inpatient outpatient and day treatment

Programs are offered for individuals with conditions such as brain injury stroke orthopedic injuries spinal cord disorders multiple sclerosis amputations arthritis Parkinsons disease and chronic pain We also offer specialized services such as aquatic therapy Driver Rehab work hardening Assistive Technology Center a Parkinsons disease Program and a Vestibular Balance Rehabilitation Program
