The Arnott Eye Centre was established by Eric Arnott over ten years ago In the early 1970s he introduced the first technique for small incision cataract surgery phacoemulsification into Europe Since its inception the centre has become internationally recognised as a tertiary referral centre for treating complicated cataract and corneal problems The appointment of surgeons with differing subspecialities has recently expanded the consultant staff so that a wide range of ophthalmic conditions can now be dealt with The centre is the first fully comprehensive ophthalmic unit in London outside a major teaching hospital Following the retirement of Eric Arnott in 1999 it was decided to rename the centre Arnott Eye Associates This reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the team
