Wiregrass Medical Center formerly Wiregrass Hospital opened as Geneva County Hospital in July 1955

For over five decades Wiregrass Medical Center has been providing healthcare services to southeastern Alabama and northwest Florida residents

Founded in 1955 as Geneva County Hospital the facility was constructed as part of the HillBurton act The facility was deemed as a modern 33 bed facility and being one of the most complete small hospitals in the entire United States The building won an award for outstanding hospital design and with a total of 25000 square feet housed the most up to date equipment

Growth over the years has resulted in a hospital with 67 acute care beds a Nursing Home with 96 beds and a Sr Care unit with 16 beds Currently Wiregrass Medical Center has over 155000 square feet of space under one roof

We recently celebrated our 50th anniversary showcasing our tremendous growth and modern up to date facilities

Over the years the facility has expanded many times not only locally but outward as well with our physician services in outlying communities
