Call to Healing ministry is a unique gift of God the Divine Healer to devote oneself with profound understanding and compassion rendering loving service selflessly and efficiently in mending the fragmentation of human personalities The service to the sick and helpless demands an extraordinary degree of dedication sincerity and commitment Like Jesus we have been anointed by the Spirit to be Eucharistic and Prophetic in our healing ministry This is manifested by our sensitivity and determination to alleviate the pain and agony in compassionate love for the suffering

Healing is a radical rebuilding of the total person Understanding the importance of holistic health we need to pay attention to the physical psychological social and spiritual health of the person Our urge to carry on and to prepare others to participate in the healing ministry of Jesus has inspired us to train doctors and nurses in our institutions with greater commitment and zeal Realizing our great responsibility to be credible witnesses of Gods love we try to improve our ways of serving the sick and the suffering

JMJ sisters reawakened renewed and revitalized by the Eucharistic Lord in total openness to Gods will launch out into new ventures with prophetic courage and holiness to build the Kingdom of God through an Ever Adaptable Apostolic Availability and rededicate themselves to lead all sections of people towards fullness of life in Christ Jesus

History

St Philomenas Hospital is managed by the Society of Jesus Mary and Joseph JMJ a Registered Society under the Charitable Societies Registration Act The Society was founded in the Netherlands in 1822 by the Rev Fr Mathias Wolff SJ and was established in India in 1904 StPhilomenas Hospital was founded in 1937 Sr Dr Mary Veronica Pitt JMJ an Australian by birth and a qualified Gynecologist became the pioneer of this Institution She devoted all her time energy and talent to attend to their needs From a humble beginning as a twobed maternity center the Institution has grown impressively into a three hundred and seventyfive bed 375 Hospital with expertise in several major medical specialties SrDrVeronica also started Midwifery training for the underprivileged girls of the locality in 1951 and later in 1965 this developed in to Auxiliary Nurses Midwifery training Centre In 1983 General Nursing was introduced

In 2000 BSc Nursing was added In 2009 MSc Nursing is started StPhilomenas Hospital today is a Multispecialty centre with modern facilities and has grown to be a Post Graduate Training Centre fulfilling the requirements for Accreditation by the Royal College of OBG in UK and Diplomat of the National Board DNB New Delhi in India
