Situated in four acres behind Luz Church Mylapore St Isabels Hospital an ambitious venture undertaken in March 1949 by the Congregation FHSIC founded in Portugal in 1871 dedicating itself to the service of the poor the sick the abandoned and the needy His excellency The Most Rev Don Manuel de Medeiros Guereiro Bishop of Mylapore blessed the foundation stone which Mr AB Shetty Minister for Public Health laid with a silver trowel It has grown from a tiny mustard seed into a wide sheltering tree winning the appreciation of the public of Chennai
