Mata Chanan Devi Hospital today represents the oldest and one of the largest tertiary care centers to the millions of people in NorthWest Delhi and adjoining states of Haryana Rajasthan UP and Punjab Established in 1968 under the aegis of Mahashay Chunni Lal Charitable Trust as a charitable eye hospital in the premises of Arya Samaj Mandir Subhash Nagar New Delhi it has come of age that MCDH stands tall today as a 350 bed facility with ultramodern health care facilities boasting of over 500 employees over 30 specialties and superspecialties and over a 150 renowned and experienced consultant doctors working in tandem to provide the stateoftheart facilities under one roof It represents a dream come true to the kind serving and philanthropic spirit of Mahashay Dharam Pal Ji who initiated this project by the formation of a trust later a society in the fond memory of his father Mahashay Chunni Lal Ji in 1968

Located in the heart of Janakpuri the erstwhile largest colony in Asia MCDH caters to the medical needs of millions from near and far It was in 1981 that hospital came to occupy its present location and became functional as a Charitable Eye Center in its erstwhile old casualty block initial response was tremendous as people from all over Delhi and adjoining states used to come here for quality yet affordable treatment and soon it became famous as quality eye centre But the needs of the people in the community were growing and thus Mahashay Ji was requested to consider expansion of its services by including other medical divisions Of paramount concern to the people in West Delhi was the lack of safe and reliable gynaecological and obstetrics services at that time so MCDH started with gynaecological and obstetrics department in 1981 It was a blessing for the people as evidenced by ever increasing number of patients attending the outpatient and inpatient services
