The Congregation of the Ursulines of Mary Immaculate was founded by Blessed Brigida Morello in Piacenza Italy in the year 1649 Mother Brigida gifted with a special love for the sick and suffering gave herself totally to the service of the poor sick and marginalized Thus becoming a Mother to them
The dream of the Founders to spread Gods kingdom tofar off lands became a reality in 1934 when Five Pioneer Ursulines landed on Indian soil

Almost two decades later in 1953 responding to the invitation of the Bishop of Allahabad Rt Rev Leonard Raymond to share the Apostolic activities of the diocese a group of sisters came to Kanpur and opened a Clinic at St Patricks convent in Cantonment area which became the forerunner of Mariampur Hospital

The hospital came to existence due to the far vision and enduring courage of its founders Rev Fr Alva and Mother Margret Benocci in the year 1961 with the moto of love amp service in the name of Jesus the Divine Healer

Sr Dr Giovanna Alberoni the first medical superintendent and Administrator with her charismatic personality and administrative efficiency steered the Young Institution to rapid progress She also received unstinted support and professional guidance from many senior professional colleagues who were professors and teachers at the GSVM Medical College Kanpur like Dr K K Bhatnagar DrOnkar Krishna Dr A K Gupta DrTarachand Dr RS Grewal Dr S N Sinha They and many others also patronized this hospital Gradually over the years the hospital grew and expanded as it stands today
