Little Lourdes Mission Hospital was established in 1956 by late Mgr Cyriac J Mattathil who was inspired by the holistic healthcare at the world famous Grotto of Lourdes in France by the intercession of Blessed Mother Mary He identified the need for a Hospital at his native place Kidangoor and started it with 12 beds with limited facilities Just before his death he entrusted this institution to the Visitation congregation in the Archdiocese of Kottayam

Founder Msgr Cyriac J Mattathil LLM Hospital was the idea of Reverent Father Cyriac J Mattathil a man of compassion He conceived this idea from the inspiration he got at the world famous Grotto of Lourdes in France were priority was given to Holistic Healthcare He worked on this idea understanding the need of such a hospital in his native place Thus he started this hospital with just 12 beds and limited facilities prior to his death he had entrusted this institution to the visitation congregation in the Archdiocese of Kottayam 50 years have passed and what is behind us in an excellent record of health care and paralleled trust

The Hospital At Present
With unconditional support and enlightened vision of the general supervision of Visitation Congregation the Hospital has grown from 12bedded hospital to 250bed strength multispeciality hospital with two educational programmers viz multipurpose Health Workeres Training Course and General Nursing and Midwifery Course Now it carees more than 52612 outpatients and about 20750 inpatients every year
