Description

Fernandez Hospital started a High Risk Pregnancy Clinic in 2001 which over the years evolved into a dedicated Obstetric Medicine Unit The department established its credibility getting referrals for the multidisciplinary care of these women

Due to the increase in the number of high risk obstetric referrals the Hospital opened another unit in nearby Hyderguda in December 2010 comprising 110 beds exclusively for these parturients Availability of a fulltime obstetric physician and critical care experts from the anaesthesia team is the distinguishing feature of this Unit In 2011 the Unit crossed 2000 deliveries For 2012 from January till August 1404 deliveries have been performed

The obstetricians physicians and the anaesthetists together form the Obstetric Medicine Team the first one of its kind in this country The team works in close liaison with related medical and surgical disciplines The parallel departments of MaternalFetal Medicine and Neonatal Intensive Care reinforce the comprehensive care rendered to these sick mothers

Out of a total of 6000 deliveries in 2011 overall there were 3557 cases coming in with complications
