History

The story of a house to care for patients within the city limits of Heinberg goes back to the year 1861

In the area at the corner of todays Liecker Road Convent Road was opened on 21111861 the St JosefStift as a new poor house together with the associated chapel or church consecrated hand The house was named quotSt JosefStiftquot after his great patron Mayor HermannJosef Weber who ran from 1857 to 1866 the fortunes of the city Heinberg The pin replaced at this point the old guesthouse in the city and the poor popularly known as quotguestquot With the care and support of the needy at the time the nuns were from St Charles Borromeo in charge of Trier
