History

In 1989 the administrator of the Louise Marshall Hospital Terrance Stoughton suggested incorporating a hospital foundation in order to assist the hospital in attaining its equipment and other capital projects and research funding He Dr Dorothy Hall and Paul Grant forged an application for incorporation The Mount Forest Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation officially came into being on March 13 1990

The Foundations key responsibilities include receiving and maintaining adequate funds to assist with capital projects for the Louise Marshall Hospital Also it encourages and assists the hospital to undertake medical research

Over the years the directors of the Foundation Board have included individuals from North Wellington committed to quality health care in the community They have brought to the Board their time and expertise

The Foundation depends entirely on the generous support of Mount Forest and area residents This generosity has helped to establish of the hospitals Oncology Unit the purchase of new diagnostic imaging equipment and operating room equipment

The Oncology unit was dedicated in June 2005 An echocardiogram used in the diagnostic imaging department was purchased in the summer of 2009 and through the help of Health Care Heroes Radiothon operating room equipment is being purchased late in 2009 and into 2010

The Foundation is an instrumental arm of the Louise Marshall Hospital
