Hanover amp District Hospital established in 1923 is an accredited acute care communitybased facility with a rural difference We are proud of a threeyear award for accreditation received in October 2007 Our primary goal is to promote and maintain the best health in all whom we serve

Hanover and District Hospital is officially an 80bed facility Currently we staff 36 acute care beds which includes one multipurpose specialty care bed two family centered care obstetrical suites and two palliative care suites For the obstetrical population Hanover and District Hospital offers prenatal clinics for expectant moms with or without family physicians As a rural facility we are proud to continue the service of delivering babies

Other outpatient services include Diabetic Education and Physiotherapy Services for adults Physiotherapy is also provided for inpatients The Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging Xray departments are open Monday to Friday with staff oncall as required after hours Diagnostic Imaging includes xrays ultrasound mammography and cardiacecho ultrasound to name a few

Hanover and District Hospital is pleased to have our own onsite surgeon There are two Operating Room theatres and three Recovery Room beds

Over the last 30 years Hanover and District Hospital has provided a hemodialysis unit with six chairs currently in full operation This service is a satellite site from London Health Sciences Center University Hospital A dialysis assessment clinic is offered once a month with a physician and nurse practitioner from London An outreach educational program was recently started for chronic renal failure patients

Hanover and District Hospital provides a 24hour emergency service that is staffed by highly qualified and skilled professionals The Emergency Department is open 24 hours seven days per week Physician coverage has been a difficult task in the past but this issue has been resolved with the arrival of Dr Eisenbarth As our new Chief of Emergency Department Dr Eisenbarth works exclusively in the Emergency Department with our local physicians and travelling locum physicians to help keep the emergency department staffed

Ambulatory services include a number of specialist clinics such as speech therapy pediatrics endocrinologyinternal medicine obstetrics orthopaedics urology and an ear nose and throat specialist Hanover and District Hospital is grateful to the specialists who travel from outside the community to our organization to provide services In addition we have a unique rural Medical Day Hospital Program The Medical Day Hospital Program is provided three days per week and the Home and Community Support Services Day Away Program runs currently two days per week Home and Community Support program is not run by our hospital staff

The Hospital Board of Directors is comprised of 16 volunteer members of the community elected or appointed from the area served by the hospital Hospital Board meetings are open to the public with meetings normally held on the third Tuesday of each month except July August and December The Board of Directors provides governance and sets policy for the operation of the hospital

Our dedicated Auxiliary has more than 200 volunteers helping us make a difference as well as the Foundation Fundraising arm The Foundation and the Auxiliary provide resources by providing volunteer services and raising funds for the Hanover and District Hospital The revenue provides for capital projects equipment needs and patient programs that will assist in providing quality health care for all patients

Hanover and District Hospital provides a full range of primarycare hospital services and selected secondarycare services to the population of Hanover and the surrounding rural townships

The original hospital was established in 1923 and a new acute care hospital was built in 1973 It is a stateoftheart facility with a 24 hour emergency department

The Hospitals vision is to be a model for rural community health care and service delivery and its primary goal is to promote and maintain the best health for all the people it serves

The services provided include medicalsurgical acute care day surgerytwo stateoftheart operating rooms multipurpose intensive care palliative care rehabilitation services dialysis unit specialist clinics diabetic education medical day hospital program laboratory services and diagnostic imaging services

Other support services located within the building include Home amp Community Support Services HCSS Community Mental Health CMH and a Psychiatrist

Continuous Quality Improvement CQI
The Quality Circle Committee comprised of staff and management was developed to ensure the provision of quality patient care in an efficient and effective manner to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff and to encourage continuous improvement in these areas This Committee monitors the activities of the Continuous Quality Improvement CQI Teams and coordinates projects as required
