History

Peninsula Private Hospital History
Peninsula Private Hospital came into existence in 1976 as a 75 bed Medical Surgical hospital not far from its present location In August of 1999 the hospital was relocated to a 140 bed purpose built facility which was one of the most advanced facilities of its kind Since that time many enhancements and expansions have been undertaken

Commenced chemotherapy services in March 2000

Commenced Coronary Services in August 2000

Increased from 4 to 5 operating theatres in January 2002

Installed and commissioned a Cardiac Angiography Suite in February 2003

Expanded our Coronary Care capacity from 8 beds to 16 beds in August 2004

Major building project undertaken incorporating additional Medical
Consulting Suites total of 10 permanent and 3 sessional expanded onsite
Pathology services and a dedicated 7 bedchair Chemotherapy Unit and
completed in March 2005

Laparoscopic banding procedures and community information sessions available

Variation to the Registration of the number of beds with the Department of
Human Services from 140 120 overnight and 20 day beds to 155 beds 124
overnight 31 day bedschairs and 6 neonatal cots in September 2008

Several new Specialists have been granted Visiting Privileges particularly
over the past 2 years

Peninsula Private continues to respond to the needs of the community and enjoy a reputation for excellence in the vibrant and growing catchment of Frankston the Mornington Peninsula and Bayside areas
