Owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care Australias largest and most respected operator of private hospitals Caloundra Private Hospital is located at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast in peaceful surroundings only minutes from the beach The hospital has 64 beds and offers a range of services including surgical medical renal dialysis day surgery and diagnostic services The theatre suite includes 3 modern operating theatres plus a 5 bed recovery unit
The Renal Dialysis Unit consists of 5 renal dialysis chairs the Day Surgery Unit consists of a procedure room and 6 chairs the Surgical and Medical Units consists of 32 beds each providing a high dependency service including 2 telemetry beds
Surgical services include gynaecology orthopaedics gastronotenterology plastic and reconstructive general laparoscopic and colorectal surgery Medical services include general respiratory medicine and renal dialysis

History
Caloundra Private Hospital History
For many years Caloundra Private Hospital was known as Andrea Ahern Private Hospital named after former Queensland Premier Mike Aherns wife
Built in 1984 by the Moran Health Group the Hospital comprised 40 acute medical and surgical beds and one operating theatre
Later purchased by MBF Australia in 1986 the Hospital underwent major extensions and renovations and a master plan was drafted for future possible development
In 1992 a twostage redevelopment of the operating theatre was completed wards were totally refurbished and the hospital grounds relandscaped Two years later the Hospitals Day Surgery Unit opened
In 1996 an additional 24 beds were added bringing the total to 64 beds evenly split between medical and surgical wards A Renal Dialysis Unit opened in September 2003
The Hospital has been through several changes in ownership over the years becoming part of the Ramsay Health Care network in late 1995 Ramsay Health Care owns and operates around 70 private hospitals across Australia making it the countrys largest and most respected provider of private hospital services plus an international presence in countries such as the United Kingdom and Indonesia
