Blacktown Hospital was opened in April 1965 with a total of 160 beds Its bed capacity increased over the years with the Maternity Unit being commissioned in 1976 By 1987 its bed capacity had reached 365 The hospital was the subject of a 90million capital redevelopment with the new hospital being commissioned in 2000
