The mission of Putnam General Hospital is to make a positive difference in the lives of our customers


History

Putnam General Hospital has been in continuous operation since its opening on March 1 1968 The original facility was comprised of 38 beds when the first patient was transferred from Jordan Hospital to Putnam General on March 1 1968 In 1974 through addition and expansion a surgery wing was opened with 17 beds Then in June of 1978 a modern intensive care unit was opened with three beds After completing a 5 million dollar renovation in 1993 the hospital was a modern stateoftheart 50 bed hospital including 5 ICU beds

In 2004 the hospital began expanding once again to enlarge the areas of Physical Therapy Cardiac Rehabilitation and storage As part of this expansion two additional recovery beds are being added to the Operating Room area as well as a family waiting room The expansion is also bringing the hospitals CT Scanner into the hospital from an outside building The hospital now serves as a 25bed critical access facility

Our Emergency Room Operating Room Lab XRay and other support services are attractive functional departments that enhance our ability to provide professional care with a personal touch
