The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System NAVAHCS includes the main medical facility the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott Arizona and five Community Based Outpatient Clinics CBOCs in Anthem Kingman Lake Havasu City Bellemont and Cottonwood Arizona The Bob Stump VA Medical Center is the largest veteran health care facility within a 60000 square mile area and is the fourth largest employer in the area This facility is located in the mountains of north central Arizona 96 miles northwest of Phoenix in a tricity community of approximately 100000 people The area is not highly industrialized and is noted for clean air sunshine and relatively mild climate As part of the Sunbelt it is an area of rapid population growth particularly for retired people and families raising young children

NAVAHCS provides a continuum of primary and secondary level medical rehabilitative and longterm care to veterans residing in northern Arizona Acute medical care consists of primary and secondary inpatient medicine and ambulatory care which includes general medicine ambulatory surgery mental hygiene and selected specialized outpatient clinics Primary level ambulatory care and screening services are provided at the main hospital and five CBOC sites Rehabilitative care consists of a rehabilitation medicine unit an outpatient substance abuse treatment program vocational rehabilitationjob training program and a very active outpatient rehabilitative therapy program Long term care consists of a Community Living Center CLC a Geriatric Evaluation and Management Program GEM and Domiciliary Dementia Hospice and Respite are programs offered in the CLC Domiciliary care is a residential rehabilitation program that provides shortterm rehabilitative care and longterm maintenance for veterans who require minimal medical and mental health care Rehabilitative Care is directed towards the development of skills necessary for return to communitybased living The NAVAHCS Domiciliary is the only such program within the Veterans Integrated Service Network VISN and serves as a treatment modality resource for VISN 18 and surrounding VISNs

Routine and nonemergent care inpatient surgical and complex medical and diagnostic procedures are referred to the VA facilities located in Phoenix and Tucson Arizona Emergent cases are referred to other VA and private sector health care facilities throughout the VA Contract Hospital Program

NAVAHCS participates in student training programs in nursing occupational therapy physical therapy social work psychology pharmacy and laboratory sciences
