Baptist Memorial HospitalDeSoto a 339bed hospital in Southaven Mississippi opened in 1988 Since then the population of the fivecounty area served by the hospital has boomed and the hospital is steadily expanding to meet the needs of its patients

In November 2006 Baptist DeSoto opened an 11story hospital tower that added 140 beds to the facility allowing it to offer all private rooms In addition the new hospital tower added a new and expanded emergency department more operating suites and space for future additions

December 2002 was the opening of the Baptist DeSoto Outpatient Diagnostic Center and Womens Center Both centers offer advanced equipment designed to diagnose a variety of illnesses

In 2001 Baptist DeSoto completed three expansion projects that nearly doubled the size of the hospital and added muchneeded services A new critical care unit opened on Valentines Day and brought openheart surgery to DeSoto County for the first time ever In April the hospitals labor and delivery services expanded with the opening of the 34000squarefoot Womens Pavilion And DeSoto Countys first radiation oncology unit the Baptist Center for Cancer CareDeSoto opened in December
