A local bus route from the town centre runs through the hospital grounds There is also scheduled transport which takes patients and staff to Doncaster Royal Infirmary and back again You have to book this service in advance

History

Hospital services in Bassetlaw began with the opening of the 5bed Victoria Hospital Worksop in 1900 staffed by a house surgeon two honorary surgeons a matron and three probationer nurses There were 59 patients and during the first year the income was pound487 12s 6d and the expenditure pound505 4s 3d Thirty years later 812 patients were treated the income was pound7326 and expenditure pound6751 A penny in the pound workers contributory scheme raised pound4300 while the Gloops Club donated a cot to the Childrens wing It became part of the NHS in 1948 and was demolished in 1996

The foundation stone for Kilton Hospital was laid in 1902 it was known as Worksops Poor Law Infirmary and cost pound18300 to build

The first phase of the new Bassetlaw Hospital was opened on the same site in 1984 Work was completed in 1987 and Casualty and inpatient facilities at Retford Hospital were transferred to the new site in 1988
