2008 Marks 10th Anniversary of Lakeridge Health Hospital Network Is One Of The Largest In Ontario

LAKERIDGE HEALTH THE BEGINNING

In 1998 the Ontario government at the recommendation of its Health Services Restructuring Commission amalgamated four Durham area hospitals Memorial Hospital Bowmanville North Durham Health Services Port Perry and Uxbridge sites Oshawa General Hospital and Whitby General Hospital to create Lakeridge Health In addition to our four sites the Uxbridge facility became aligned with Markham Stouffville Hospital in 2004 we also have numerous offsite locations to better serve our community

Though our individual sites have served their communities for many decades the Lakeridge Health Network is still evolving to best serve the healthcare needs of our vibrant growing and aging community We are committed to making our sites and services work as a network helping people get the right care at the right time in the right place from the right provider

Building on our strengths we strive to provide excellence in healthcare to residents of East Durham and surrounding areas For instance in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario our RS McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre now offers comprehensive cancer care to residents of Scarborough Durham Haliburton Peterborough Northumberland and Kawartha Lakes
