About Us
The BeaufortDelta Health and Social Services Authority BDHSSA encompasses the northern portion of the Northwest Territories Canada The BDHSSA is one of eight health authorities in the Territory and serves 8 communities Aklavik Fort McPherson Inuvik Paulatuk Sachs Harbour Tsiigehtchic Tuktoyaktuk and Ulukhaktok

Services and programs are delivered through community clinics and the Inuvik Regional Hospital The administrative centre for the Authority is also located in Inuvik which is the largest of the regions communities with a population of approximately 3600 residents

History

History
Prior to becoming a Board the organization was operated by the Government of Canada In 1988 responsibility for health and social services was transferred to the Government of the Northwest Territories The Department of Health and Social Services is responsible for administering 28 pieces of territorial legislation

Hospital History

January 13 1961 Inuvik General Hospital opened its doors and became the only Canadian hospital north of the Arctic Circle the name later changed to the Inuvik Regional Hospital
