After the war Dr William Jackson and Dr JT Jackson came to practice with Dr LC 1946 Dr William Jackson served with the Eighth Air Force in Europe and Dr JT Jackson served in the Navy in Europe and Asia

The three Drs Jackson worked together as a team at Jackson Clinic In 1947 they built facilities to accommodate 25 patients and also added a surgical suite and obstetrical suite They maintained satellite offices in McEwen in Humphreys County Lyles in Hickman County and Vanleer in Dickson County Along with their office practice in Dickson and operating a 25bed hospital They scheduled specific hours each day to each satellite office This sometimes entailed a 1215 hour day for each doctor but was very advantageous and convenient for the patients

March 29 1956 Drs LC Jimmy and William Jackson announce the purchase of 24 acres of land on East 70 Highway and plan to build a 40bed hospital This developed into the Goodlark Hospital named in honor of two ladies who were heirs to the land on which Goodlark Hospital stands Mrs Doye Myatt Goodrum and Mrs Paul Larkins Sr

In 1958 as the need grew for a larger facility for patient care a 58bed hospital was built Goodlark Hospital was operated as a privately owned hospital for a few years By 1960 one other doctor joined the group as part owner As business grew so grew the need for more hospital beds In 1962 a new wing was added to the hospital consisting of 26beds with an unfinished lower level for future expansion

In 1966 the Drs Jackson decided the hospital could best operate and benefit the community as a nonprofit organization or foundation in the future At this time they relinquished ownership to the nonprofit foundation to be operated with all profits received from the hospital to be used for maintaining the hospital new equipment new technology and education programs for student doctors and nurses Since that time the lower pavilion has been added with private rooms In 1975 a three million dollar medical complex was added to accommodate space for 14 doctors an outpatient pharmacy an inpatient pharmacy physical therapy unit coronary unit modern laboratory and business office

June 14 1973 Goodlark Hospital announces a 3 million dollar expansion through a 77000 square feet build out to the hospital floor space

March 051980 Mrs Doye Myatt Goodrum died at the age of 89 years in Goodlark Hospital in Dickson Tennessee She was an old time businesswoman on Main Street in Dickson for over 60 years She owned and ran the Myatt Drug Store on Main Street after the death of her father and mother She was reported at one time to own over 100 parcels pf property in Dickson Goodlark hospital is named in her honor along with her cousin Mrs Paul Larkins Sr The Good in the hospital name comes from her and the Lark in the hospital name comes from Larkins thus Goodlark Hospital Both of these ladies were heirs to the land on which Goodlark Hospital is built Goodlark is located near the site of the civil war famous spring where the Union Forces camped at Cox Spring

Goodlark Hospital the medical facility from which Horizon Medical Center evolved has continually maintained its commitment to provide quality healthcare to Dickson and surrounding county residents Horizon Medical Center is proud to rank among the top 4 of hospitals surveyed nationwide by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as evidenced by the facilitys recent survey score of 98 out of 100
